Arabsat is partnering with Germany-based Level421 a provider of satellite communication services for Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. As part of this cooperation Level421 has installed a new 6.5-metre antenna pointing towards Arabsat-5C satellite @ 20°East, reportedly capable of handling extended C-band. This platform is currently fully operational, according to the company.
From its reportedly prime teleport location in Germany, Level421 provides data services, based on Comtech 840 VSAT technology, with ACM capabilities on the up and downstreams. Due to its teleport location in central Europe and the possibility to inject data traffic directly into the Pan European backbone, the overall performance of internet-based services, provided by level421, is enhanced, according to a company spokesman.
“Arabsat-5C is one of the latest state-of-art satellites within the Arabsat fleet. The satellite offers a ubiquitous coverage over Middle East, Africa & Central Asia in C-band; that are also the prime service regions of Level421. Customers of Level421 and Arabsat will be able to benefit from a reliable and cost-effective solution to serve their specific communication and distribution requirements, including any kind of VSAT application. The on-the-ground experience of Level421 will help us deliver the most convenient turnkey solutions and a solid foundation of any kind of similar payload in the future, ” stated Khalid Balkheyour, President and CEO of Arabsat.
“The satellite bandwith market is changing quickly. With upcoming Ka-band, and a strong market concentration in the iDirect type of services, the capability to deliver real large trunks for internet backbone is becoming more and more important. Arabsat5c is a powerful C-band satellite over the African region and is a good choice, to “connect the unconnected” in this part of the world, at reasonable costs,” stated Markus Haut, General Manager of level421 GmbH.
