The World Teleport Association (WTA) has awarded satellite specialist Newtec’s M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator with the Teleport Technology of the Year 2013.

The Newtec M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator is a next generation DVB-S2, DVB-DSNG and DVB-S modulator that is ready to support the new upcoming S2 Extensions and RF Carrier ID DVB standards. It has specifically been designed, the company claims, for broadcast Direct-to- Home (DTH), primary distribution to headends and contribution of television and radio content. It can reportedly be used in conjunction with set-top boxes, professional IRD’s or professional satellite demodulators and also as a platform to play a central role in networks.

“I am very proud of the entire Newtec team for all of the work that has gone into developing a product which is capable of winning this award, greatly respected by everyone in the industry,” said Serge van Herck, CEO of Newtec. “The M6100 attempts to cover every eventuality that a teleport operator will need in order to maximise business potential, not just now but also in the future. We are proud that it is being backed by some of the industry’s most important players.”

Since 1995, the WTA has presented annual awards to companies and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in the field of teleport operations, development and technology.
