Saudi Space Commission has signed a joint cooperation agreement in the field of the peaceful use of outer space with the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES). It comes amid French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
The agreement was signed by Dr Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Tamimi, CEO of Saudi Space Commission and Philippe Baptiste, CEO of French National Centre for Space Studies.
It provides a framework for cooperation in space activities, including exchanging information and technologies, capacity building, organizing mutual visits and meetings, holding workshops and training courses.
This is in addition to forging cooperation to develop a mechanism for space-based climate monitoring, and finding a ground for joint integration between the public and private sectors in promoting space activities in a way that contributes to creating an attractive environment for investment in the space sector and the growth of its economy.
The cooperation agreement between the commission and the centre comes within the framework of supporting and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides in an effective way, unifying the joint efforts, and raising the level of competition in the space sector in order to enable Saudi Arabia’s international space partnerships.
