Emirati astronauts gifted the flags to pavilions from different countries at Expo Dubai 2020.

During their visit to Expo Dubai 2020, Emirati astronauts Hazzaa AlMansoori and Sultan AlNeyadi, who were part of the MBRSC delegation led by Salem Humaid AlMarri, Director General, presented several flags they brought with them after their historic flight to the International Space Station in 2019.

The MBRSC team also did a ceremonial opening of the Expo portal, whereas AlMansoori and AlNeyadi completed their Expo journey by presenting the flags to different country pavilions such as Syria, Sudan, Kuwait, Qatar, Comoros, Israel, Kazakhstan, Palestine, Oman, Egypt, Tunisia and Somalia.

Salem Humaid AlMarri said: “Since it opened its gates, Expo 2020 Dubai has provided millions of people around the world a platform for discovery of cultures, traditions and innovations across the globe. It is the same spirit of discovery that we hold in high esteem at the MBSRC, which takes the lead in the UAE’s space exploration initiatives. We are delighted to have made this visit as an expression of our support and solidarity. The handover of the flags is symbolic of our aspirations to connect with countries with established space programmes as well as those who are also aspiring to join the league of nations with space exploration capabilities as we seek to create a sustainable and innovative future for all.”
