Egyptian Space Agency appoints new CEO

As CEO of EgSA, Professor Sedky will succeed Dr Mohamed Al-Qousi.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has issued decree No. 368 of 2022 appointing Professor Sherif Mohamed Salah El-Din Sedky as CEO of Egyptian Space Agency for one year, effective immediately.

Sedky began his career as a teacher at Cairo University in 1999 before joining UCLA as a visiting researcher. He got transferred to the American University of Cairo in 2002 as a teacher.  

In 2010, he was appointed as Director of Yousef Jameel Center for Science and Technology, then the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Affairs at the American University in Cairo in 2011. He served as the first president of Zewail University of Science and Technology from 2013 to 2015 before he became the academic president of the American University in Cairo. 

Professor Sedky established the Center for Design and Fabrication of Microelectromechanical Systems at the American University in Cairo in 2003. 

He has obtained nine patents related to providing new techniques for controlling the physical properties of thin films, either by blending different materials or by focusing heat treatment using short laser pulses.
