Orange Business Services, the B2B division of Orange, and Solidere, the Lebanese company responsible for the development and reconstruction of the Beirut Central District, have signed a two-year contract extension for Orange Business Services to continue providing infrastructure and managing IPTV services from Solidere for residents in Beirut’s downtown area.
Solidere’s IPTV services delivers a range of movies, sports and TV programmes streamed directly to residents’ TVs over its broadband network that Orange designed, built and operates. Residents enjoy some of the most advanced IP-based, on-demand telecoms services in the world.
Orange offers a combination of technological and operational expertise under its Smart City programme, which provides digital solutions for cities with large infrastructures and extensive citizen services.
“Orange Business Services is delighted to renew this important contract with Solidere, whose flagship real estate development provides a showcase for IPTV and demonstrates the added value that ICT can bring to premium real estate projects,” says Jean-Luc Lasnier, GM of MEA at Orange Business Services.
“This contract renewal reflects the positive ongoing demand for IPTV services in more than 1,500 households in Lebanon’s most prestigious real estate project. In addition, it serves as a model for delivering TV and viewing services to other smart real estate developments across the wider region.”
When Orange Business Services and Solidere launched the IPTV services in 2008, it was the first time that broadcast and on-demand HDTV over IPTV was offered in the Middle East on a commercial basis.
