Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu announced a significant reshuffle within the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, following which Nkechi Egerton-Idehen was appointed as the new Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT). This move is part of a broader multi-agency restructuring to bolster the country’s communication, innovation, and digital economy sectors.
The official statement, released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said that Nkechi Egerton-Idehen will assume her new role immediately.
Before she was appointed the CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen served as the Head of Sales for the Middle East & Africa at Meta. She has also played a vital role within the executive leadership team at Ericsson Ghana and Liberia, where she managed the account teams for Ericsson in both countries. Furthermore, her prior roles include an Acting Customer Team Head role at MTN Nigeria and serving as the Country Manager in Nigeria and the Regional Sales Manager in West Africa for Avanti Communications. With over two decades of experience in telecommunications, Nkechi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
Nkechi Egerton-Idehen’s educational background is equally impressive. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Additionally, she has completed executive education programmes at Harvard Business School and Yale School of Management.
Furthermore, Nkechi has been recognised with numerous awards and accolades for her outstanding contributions. Notably, she received the 50 Leading Ladies in Corporate Nigeria Leadership Award, highlighting her exceptional leadership abilities. Her efforts in promoting girls’ participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) have also earned her recognition and praise.
