The United Arab Emirates satellite operator Yahsat has announced the appointment of Amit Somani as its Chief Growth and Strategy Officer.
Somani, a seasoned professional in the satellite communications industry, returns to Yahsat with over 27 years of experience in satellite communications and management consulting. Having previously served in various capacities at Yahsat from 2010 to 2022, including Vice President of Strategy and Business Development and Chief Strategy Officer, Somani brings extensive knowledge of the company and the industry.
In his new role, Somani will be responsible for driving the development and execution of Yahsat’s growth strategy, as well as leading its global strategic partnerships and alliances. This appointment reflects Yahsat’s commitment to accelerating its growth trajectory and expanding its product offerings and market reach under Somani’s guidance.
Speaking about the new appointment, Ali Al Hashemi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Yahsat, said: “We would like to welcome Amit back into the Yahsat family. Al Hashemi highlighted Somani’s active participation in implementing Yahsat’s successful IPO and listing on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) in 2021, as an example of his ability to deliver exceptional results.

Somani will assume his new role at Yahsat on April 1st, 2024, following a two-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the UAE-based international hedge fund consortium, ABS Global. He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from the London Business School and a MEng. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK.
