HD viewing will soon be a technology of the past, with the proliferation of 4K coming Asia’s way, say some industry representatives.
4K, also commonly known as ultra-HD, is an evolved standard that greatly surpasses HD, bearing a minimum pixel count of 3840×2160 compared to the latter’s standard 1920×1080. Naturally, 4K enables sharper, higher clarity images and videos.
During BroadcastAsia2014, players from Asia’s TV and broadcasting industries will be able to explore the most avant-garde 4K technology available globally, presented by some of the world’s foremost companies in the playing field.
Alongside 4K, technologies related to digital media such digital pre and post production, MAM, or multi-screen/multi-platform streaming, and over-the-top (OTT) will be featured at BroadcastAsia2014. Comprising visionary keynotes and specialised industry sessions, the four-day BroadcastAsia2014 conferences will provide a knowledge transfer hub and networking platform for attendees to debate and discuss critical upcoming trends, such as disruptive technologies in the broadcast and digital media market landscapes, industry risk factors and models for success that will enable companies to ride these trends and remain profitable.
On June 17, the opening day of the BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference, delegates can glean from industry experts the latest technical and business opportunities, challenges and solutions to best capitalise on the imminent shift towards 4K broadcasting. Experts from Bangkok Entertainment Co, BT Media & Broadcast UK, Ericsson, Eutelsat, Harmonic, Pace, Sony Corporation, Telestream and 3net Studios will present case studies and share their thought-provoking ideas.
Key topics include HEVC, a power panel on overcoming the challenges in converting to digital and HD broadcasting, the Solution for producing major sporting events in 4K and a panel on 4K transmission.
Media asset management, cloud broadcasting, second screen, social TV and OTT will also be highlighted at the BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference.
The Creative Content Production Conference 2014 will focus on content creation and distribution, and the technical aspects of 4K production. A series of conference tracks will cover the latest disruptive technologies that enable companies to increase eyeballs, with specialised tracks on Asian audiences and strategies for success in Asia. Key topics include navigating the 4K transition and revolutionising production strategies to produce high-quality 4K content.
