Stephen Beynon, CEO of OneWeb, is set to resign just under a year after the company merged with France’s Eutelsat.
Founded in 2012 by Greg Wyler to provide global internet coverage via low earth orbit satellites, OneWeb faced major financial difficulties in 2020, filing for bankruptcy after losing support from major investor SoftBank.
Beynon, previously a columnist for Business Matters, was appointed CEO of OneWeb and co-president of Eutelsat’s connectivity division following the merger.
Following Beynon’s departure next month, his co-president, Cyril Dujardin, a French national, is expected to assume full control of Eutelsat OneWeb. The search for Beynon’s successor is currently ongoing, raising further questions about the future of OneWeb’s UK operations.
