Link Communications’ new IP radio

The new IPR5000 IP Radio is, according to the manufacturer, small enough to fit in any carrying case, rugged to IP-68 standards and includes a secure compliant FIPS 140-2 AES256 bit encryption

Link Communications, Inc., has launched a Push To Talk over IP solution. This new system reportedly provides unlimited talk groups and unlimited users the Push To Talk operation, enabling one to one and one to many communications from anywhere globally.

The new IPR5000 IP Radio is, according to the manufacturer, small enough to fit in any carrying case, rugged to IP-68 standards and includes a secure compliant FIPS 140-2 AES256 bit encryption. The IPR5000 can connect to computer dispatch consoles, two-way radios and certain smart phones (Android currently). With its satellite optimised data bandwidth and its adaptive audio delay, no voice messaging is, according to the manufacturer, ever lost due to bandwidth constraints.

A company spokesman added: “Its audio is excellent and can be monitored from the included speaker enabled microphone, or an external speaker can be attached in noisy environments.” Visually the IPR5000 includes a 1/4 colour VGA LCD display providing, according to the manufacturer, a pleasant user interface with simple operations.
