Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (KTOS), a security solutions provider, announced that its Integral Systems Europe Limited (ISE) subsidiary has been awarded a contract by Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (AsiaSat) to upgrade another satellite terminal at its Tai Po Earth Station in Hong Kong SAR.

When the installation at Tai Po is completed later this year, the new system will reportedly expand AsiaSat’s transmission capacity and provide more flexible transponder access across its satellite fleet

Under the terms of the contract, ISE will upgrade one of Tai Po’s C-band Radio Frequency (RF) uplink systems. Factory integration for the new system will begin shortly at ISE’s ground systems integration facility near Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. When the installation at Tai Po is completed later this year, the new system will reportedly expand AsiaSat’s transmission capacity and provide more flexible transponder access across its satellite fleet.

The award continues the 20-year relationship between AsiaSat and Kratos ISE. The ISE team built the original Tai Po facility for AsiaSat about ten years ago to support a new generation of satellites. This contract now updates those operations with the most modern technologies.

“This latest award from AsiaSat underscores the close partnership we have built together,” said Andrew Smith, president of ISE UK. “Our familiarity with the Tai Po systems combined with the broad range of ground system products and expertise that Kratos ISE offers allowed us to provide the cutting-edge solutions that will help AsiaSat remain at the forefront of service delivery to its customers.”

“We are very pleased to have ISE to conduct the TP2 antenna upgrade project for AsiaSat. Based on our past experience, ISE has the expertise and ability to manage the projects and meet AsiaSat’s technical and schedule requirements. We are confident that ISE will continue to provide high quality professional service and increase AsiaSat’s uplink services capabilities to serve our customers,” said Fred Ho, director, technical operations of AsiaSat.

For 30 years, Kratos ISE has reportedly provided satellite ground systems and solutions to the global satellite community for satellite control, telecommunication gateway, broadcast uplink and VSAT hub applications.
