Video streaming solutions provider, VITEC will participate at IDEX 2019, to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 17 to 21 February 2019. VITEC will engage with regional defence ministries, armed forces and systems integrators to address the challenges around enhancing their Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Situational Awareness (ISR) capabilities.

Outlining the challenges of delivering video streams from the field, Nicolas Pons, VP Business Development Middle East at VITEC said: “Bandwidth limitations are the key issue, and this is especially pronounced in the Middle East where the topography promotes heavy reliance on satellite links. The more data you send, the more you expose yourself to packet loss and data corruption which dramatically increasing operating costs. VITEC’s solutions allow very high levels of compression for video signals without degrading the video quality for operators. This makes the delivery of high-quality video feeds a reality allowing our customers to gain a tactical advantage.”

Over the last year, VITEC has doubled its investment in the Middle East. The company will use its presence to highlight its encoder and decoder pairs which feature the ability of streaming from HD/SD, and analogue/digital video sources. These solutions allow real-time image cropping and video scaling, Forward Error Correction (FEC) streaming and feature JITC-compliant output streams.

VITEC will also present FITIS, its military-grade end-to-end Full Motion Video (FMV) solution for processing, archiving, indexing, managing and disseminating tactical ISR video and metadata content. This solution enables government and military entities to quickly process and exploit live and recorded video assets to create actionable, real-time intelligence.

“Our ambition for the Middle East is to establish long-term relationships with key organisations across both military and non-military service industries to enhance defence and national security across the region. Being the only international defence exhibition and conference in the MENA, IDEX provides the ideal platform for us to emphasise and build on this commitment,” added Pons.
