Key appointments by Hermes Datacomms Middle East

Hermes Datacomms Middle East has appointed David Roberts as the BP account manager Middle East, and Martin Hughes as service manager for the Middle East.

Hermes Datacomms Middle East, a key specialist providing Wide Area Network communications to the upstream oil and gas industry has appointed David Roberts as the BP account manager Middle East, and Martin Hughes as service manager for the Middle East.

Roberts has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 30 years.  He has worked for a number of corporate companies including BT, Avaya (formally AT&T/ Lucent Tech), Black & Decker and Siemens Enterprise Communications.  Roberts also worked as an engineer in the field before moving into service management, where he ran the EMEA and global service operations for Avaya.

In this new role, Roberts will be responsible for developing the BP account in the Middle East, with extensive travel across these regions. His responsibility will be to not only manage and build on the strong existing relationship with BP, but also to plan and present new solutions, and identify key areas for advancement across the account. Roberts will provide a proactive overview of the account in relation to BP’s needs for today, as well as the future.

Hughes has global experience in the oil and gas sector as an IT project and service level manager for KBR, Baker Hughes, Halliburton and Landmark Graphics, having worked in the US, Latin America, Middle East, China and UK over the past decade.

His role as services manager Middle East at Hermes is to build on the current high levels of service provision and help deliver a unified support model to all of Hermes customers. He acts as an interface between the engineering/service desk teams to streamline the sales pipeline requirements and produce solution proposals that are tailored to fit customer’s requirements.
