US-based networking company Cisco has announced plans to partner with UAE-based satellite communications company YahSat for satellite services to a number of industries in the Middle East.
Cisco is looking into delivering services to the government sector, as well as resource companies requiring communications solutions for field work.
Part of the plan is to introduce the Cisco TelePresence VX Tactical technology, which reportedly redelivers high-definition video which can be used in remote oil and gas sites. The service is an integrated solutions technology and is equipped with codec technology that can reportedly withstand rugged environments and harsh conditions. It is also outfitted with a camera, microphone, and display, along with other Cisco communications applications. The company’s TelePresence video makes it possible, the company claims, to create a conference-room environment even in remote regions.
Cisco will be making use of YahSat’s satellite services to deliver the satellite-powered remote connectivity solutions. The satellite operator has been delivering communications solutions to both government and enterprise customers in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Central and South West Asia.
