Arianespace postpones Inmarsat GX5 launch to November 26

Bad weather conditions have delayed the launch for a second time, Arianespace commented on its web site
GX5 will boost Inmarsat’s Global Xpress network capacity.

Arianespace has postponed the launch of its Ariane 5 rocket, which would carry Egypt’s TIBA-1 satellite and the Inmarsat GX5 satellite again.

According to Arianespace’s web site, the 24-hour delay occurred due to unfavourable weather conditions over the Guiana Space Center in Kourou.

The website read: “As a clear amelioration is foreseen in the 24 hours, the new targeted launch date is Tuesday, November 26, 2019.”

The launch window is expected to be between 1:09 am and 2:54 am local time, during the night of November 26 and 27.

This is the second delay of the launch, which was initially scheduled for November 22.

The launcher, along with TIBA-1 and Inmarsat GX5 satellites, are being maintained in fully safe conditions and in stand-by mode.

TIBA-1 is a civil and government telecommunication satellite for Egypt. It was developed by Thales Alenia Space and Airbus Defence and Space. GX5 is a mobile communications satellite built by Thales Alenia Space for Inmarsat.
