Avanti Communications has entered a new strategic partnership with Türksat, Turkey’s national satellite operator, marking an important step in Avanti’s efforts to broaden high-quality connectivity across Africa, particularly in underserved parts of Southern Africa.
The agreement grants Avanti additional capacity on the high-throughput Türksat 5B satellite, strengthening a collaboration that began in 2019. The expanded arrangement reflects rising demand for satellite services in Southern Africa and highlights both companies’ commitment to supporting growth in the region.
Debbie Mavis, Director, Avanti Communications, said: “Partnering with Türksat allows us to meet the surging demand for GEO satellite services across Southern Africa. Together, we’re expanding connectivity to the communities and businesses that need it most.”
Dr Selman Demirel, VP of Satellite Operations for Turksat added: “South Africa represents a key growth market for Türksat. Avanti’s established presence and deep understanding of local connectivity needs make them an ideal partner for our expansion into the region.”
Avanti recently launched Avanti Everywhere, which encompasses a new suite of Flexible GEO services, strengthening its portfolio in response to market demand. The company showcased the new solutions at AfricaCom, engaging with industry leaders to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing connectivity across the continent.
The collaboration between Avanti and Türksat not only aims to deliver seamless connectivity to enterprise customers across Southern Africa but also to act as a catalyst of strategic inter-operator partnerships that drive national and regional growth in the telecommunications sector. This deal enables South African partners to benefit from the combined capacity and capabilities of both satellite operators.
