Bahrain’s National Space Science Agency (NSSA) has signed an agreement with BRS Labs to offer online space training for students. The agreement was signed at the Bahrain International Airshow 2024, formalising a collaboration initially established under a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). BRS Labs is a licensed educational partner for Hexagon, USA, offering comprehensive online education in remote sensing, space technology, and satellite systems.

The initiative is part of Bahrain’s commitment to advancing 21st century educational technologies and supporting the national vision of His Majesty the King to position Bahrain among leading nations in space sciences.

Under the agreement, more than 100 seats will be made available for Bahraini students aged 12 to 16 to participate in online space science training. Thirty selected students will complete these courses in summer 2025, coordinated by NSSA and the Ministry of Education. The programme includes practical training with Hexagon’s specialised remote sensing and satellite image analysis software, widely used by international space agencies. Students who complete the course will receive professional certification.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, representing the NSSA, noted that the agreement is a step toward encouraging Bahraini students to explore STEM fields, particularly in the space sector, aligning with NSSA’s strategic goals. He expressed optimism that this effort would positively impact Bahrain’s scientific and educational landscape.

Ayman Salem, Executive Director of BRS Labs, expressed his commitment to the partnership with NSSA and thanked Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure, and Geospatial Division for supporting students with industry grade software. He noted BRS Labs’ dedication to advancing space technology education and anticipated that this collaboration would expand opportunities for more Bahraini students.
