The annual BroadcastPro ME Awards, a must-attend event for MENA broadcasters, has introduced several new categories this year keeping in mind the new wave of digital content and the ever evolving broadcast technology.
Satellites play a crucial role in this day and age. From emergency situations and enabling voice communication between chatty friends, to providing internet access to fibre-lacking areas and giving the gift of education or healthcare to those out in remote locations – and everything in between, we are becoming increasingly dependent on the industry. The benefits afforded are remarkable, and these would not be possible without satellite operators.
There will be three SatellitePro ME awards, Satellite Operator of the Year, Best Satellite Solutions Provider and Best Satcom Initiative.
Digital initiatives by MENA broadcasters will have a chance to showcase their newly developed apps and vie for the App of the Year award as well as Best Digital Initiative of the year.
Radio, a strong medium in the region, will be given the credit it deserves as BroadcastPro invites broadcasters operating in that space to compete for the Radio Trendsetter award. Participants are encouraged to present fresh ideas and new technology initiatives that they have deployed at their radio stations.
A big money churner for the broadcast industry, live sport is believed to be what’s keeping linear TV alive and BroadcastPro Awards have reserved a special place for it at the gala event. We invite sports producers and broadcasters with new deployments for covering sporting events in the region. Innovation in the sports arena is what we are looking for.
Kids entertainment has also been considered this time around with a special award for Outstanding Kids Broadcast Initiative. The category is open to new or existing channels and OTT platforms with new programming tailor-made for kids in the MENA region.
Yet another category introduced for the first time is the MENA IP Installation of 2016. As IP continues to create a buzz in the broadcast industry, key players are renewing their existing infrastructure with the latest IP systems to keep in step with the changing face of broadcast technology. This award will recognise those who have taken the lead by stepping into the virtual world by adopting IP technology.
In addition to these, awards will be given for conventional projects including Studio of the year, Telco Strategy of the Year, Innovative Project Award and MENA Broadcast Trendsetter.
