Belgium Satellite Services s.a., (BSS) has announced the completion of the acquisition of Intersat, a service provider in the MEA region.
This acquisition shall provide an avenue to bring BSS’ expertise to the African continent including GSM backhauling and voice termination connectivity, broadcasting and BSS teleport services to customers in Africa
BSS as a part of an expansion strategy has reportedly moved into Africa and incorporated its subsidiary in Kenya “BSS Africa Ltd”. This is the service arm for its enterprise customers and according to the official release, and operations in Kenya were to be headed by Hanif Kassam.
For Intersat, the official release stated that the technical, sales and customer service team will remain the same and work jointly with the BSS team in areas such as sales, product and market development.
In addition, BSS has reportedly incorporated the subsidiary in UAE, “Intersat FZe”, as a step towards its expansion programme in the Middle East.
Nitin Dhawan, BSS Group CEO stated: “This acquisition shall provide an avenue to bring BSS’ expertise to the African continent including GSM backhauling and voice termination connectivity, broadcasting and BSS teleport services to customers in Africa. The combined strength shall widen the service portfolio and thereby offer a unique value proposition to customers in Africa & Middle East.”
