Cloudflare reports threefold growth in Starlink’s internet traffic for 2024

This is the second consecutive year of rapid growth for Starlink. The company almost tripled traffic in 2023.

Global internet traffic from SpaceX’s satellite internet service more than tripled in 2024, according to data from IT service provider Cloudflare. The company continued to be the leading satellite Internet service provider, bringing connectivity to unserved or underserved areas. In addition to opening up new markets in 2024, Starlink also announced relationships to provide in-flight connectivity to multiple airlines such as Qatar Airways, United Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines; and on cruise ships (Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruises, American Cruise Lines) and trains, as well as enabling subscribers to roam with their subscription using the Starlink Mini.

Cloudflare said Starlink experienced rapid growth in areas with “pent-up demand” for alternative internet services. Traffic in Georgia and Paraguay, where Starlink launched in November and December 2023, increased by 100 and 900 times this year, respectively.
