Com Dev International Ltd. has been awarded a contract for satellite components from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd.

The authorisation to proceed contract will see USD 5.1 million initially released to cover engineering and procurement activities.

Com Dev says the full value of the contract is expected to exceed USD 11 million, with an option for a replacement flight set valued at more than USD 10 million.
The work will be done at the company’s Cambridge, Ont., facility.

Com Dev builds subsystems and other technology for major satellite contractors, government agencies and satellite operators.
MDA, best-known as the maker of the robotic arms used on the International Space Station and the now-retired U.S. space shuttles, supplies technology to a variety of businesses that use satellites to collection information from space.
