du has announced its support and participation in ITU Telecom World 2012, which is taking place for the first time in the UAE during 14-18 October. ITU is the United Nations agency for information and communication technology.
As part of its involvement, du’s CEO Osman Sultan will participate in two leadership sessions: 1. A CEO roundtable on 14 October at 1:45 pm at Al Multaqa, titled ‘Forging the Future’ which discusses social responsibilities as an inherent part of platforms and ecosystems; 2. Participant at the Regional CEO Roundtable with other industry stalwarts on 15 October at Abu Dhabi B at 11:30 am, debating areas that need to be addressed as a consequence of the radical transformation of telecom; and 3. As a panelist in the Youth and Leaders Debate on 17 October at Workspace at 5pm.
du is reportedly involved in Young Innovators Competition during ITU Telecom World 2012, which offers 12 social entrepreneurs aged 18-25 years old the opportunity to shine a global ICT spotlight on their innovative ideas and digital creativity. Nearly 400 young entrepreneurs from 77 countries around the world submitted innovative ICT-based early concepts or mature projects in the competition. du is also involved in Telecom Development Forum that brings together representatives from several developing countries to discuss the most pressing telecom issues of our times and find a road to ideate and find solutions to them.
