E& UAE details integrated sensing approach for 6G in new white paper

The report sets out e&’s vision for 6G networks that go beyond connectivity to sense the physical world in real time.

E& UAE, the flagship telecommunications arm of global technology group e&, has released a new strategic white paper detailing its vision for the evolution of 6G mobile networks. Titled Integrated Sensing and Communication in 6G: e&’s Perspective on Strategic Applications, Monetisation Potential, and Global Roadmap, the report explores how next-generation networks will move beyond connectivity to actively sensing and interpreting the physical world in real time.

The white paper positions Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) as a core pillar of the future 6G standard. By enabling radio signals to be used simultaneously for data transmission and radar-like sensing, ISAC allows mobile networks to detect objects, track movement and monitor environmental conditions with high accuracy, without relying on additional hardware such as cameras or sensors.

According to the report, this technological shift will transform network infrastructure into a platform for real-time situational awareness, unlocking new capabilities across multiple sectors. The paper analyses high-impact applications including industrial automation, drone traffic and airspace management, collision avoidance for autonomous vehicles and healthcare monitoring solutions that preserve user privacy.

Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology and Information Officer, e& UAE, said: “The transition to 6G represents a fundamental shift in how we view network infrastructure. We are moving from a world of simple connectivity to an era of ‘spatial intelligence,’ where the network itself becomes a sensor that understands the world around it.

“At e& UAE, we are already laying the groundwork for this future through strategic pilots and partnerships. ISAC will not only enhance the efficiency of our industries and the safety of our smart cities, but it will also unlock entirely new value for our customers—turning every base station into a pillar of digital insight. This white paper reflects our commitment to leading the region into the 6G era, ensuring the UAE remains at the forefront of global technology innovation.”

The white paper also outlines potential monetisation models enabled by ISAC, including sensing-as-a-service offerings, packaged solutions tailored to specific industries and service-level agreement-based network slices designed for safety-critical applications. In addition, it evaluates market opportunities across sectors such as manufacturing, transportation, public safety and immersive media, providing a prioritised view of where commercial impact is likely to emerge first.

As part of its innovation roadmap, e& UAE highlights recent progress in the field, including the region’s first ISAC-based drone detection pilot conducted during GITEX 2025, as well as ongoing trials in the Terahertz spectrum, which is expected to play a key role in future 6G deployments.

The report is aimed at industry leaders, policymakers and technology strategists seeking a practical and forward-looking perspective on how 6G capabilities can be developed, tested and commercialised as the global telecom ecosystem begins its transition toward the next generation of mobile networks.
