EgSA signs agreement with Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology

The educational lab satellite project is linked to the technology education platform with co-financing and co-operation from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

The Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA) has signed an executive agreement with the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST). 

The agreement aims to provide EJUST with an educational satellite model for communication, remote sensing and space environment applications. It would also strengthen research, development and innovation efforts.

Dr Mohammed Iraqi, Executive Vice President of EgSA explained that EgSA seeks to strengthen its partnership with all universities to achieve its strategic objectives, which includes improving the depth of space knowledge in Egypt and contributes to the country’s vision 2030.

According to the statement, the educational lab satellite project is linked to the technology education platform with co-financing and co-operation from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

Dr Mohamed Ibrahhim, Project Manager of EgSA’s satellite laboratories said explained that the components of the Lunar Educational Lab, consisting of four main units, an educational satellite model, simulators of operation and testing of satellite and scientific experimenting equipment on the educational satellite and ground station simulation unit with educational operation software and its various applications.

Dr Ayman Mahrous, Supervisor of the research at the University and Lviv, said: “The project aims to invest in individuals by deploying and deepening the learning of satellite technology at the university, deepening the space knowledge system and preparing human resources highly skilled and able to contribute and qualified to work in space science and technology and contribute in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for Egypt.”

He added: “The project offers students unique opportunities to understand and explore the design and working methods of satellite and the consequently advanced technologies in the space industry”.
