EIAST signs MOU with ATHS and STS

ATHS & EIAST MOUInline, with the strategic objectives of developing students’ abilities in space science and satellite industry, the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Applied Technology High School (ATHS) and Secondary Technical School (STS).

The MoU was signed by Yousuf Al Shaibani, Director General of EIAST, and Dr. Ahmad Al Awar, IAT Managing Director – MOU signing partner, in the presence of senior officials from both sides, with the aim of qualifying and encouraging students to continue their studies and specialize. Specialties related to space science and satellite industry are encouraged by raising awareness about the importance of this sector and developing their creative and professional abilities.

According to the memorandum, the two parties will coordinate on the design and preparation of educational, training or qualification programs in the scientific specialties pertaining to space science technology and satellites, aimed at serving the public interest of the UAE. Both sides will also work on the organization and implementation of joint programs, events, forums and lectures in the field of space science technologies.

Additionally, each of  ATHS and STS will facilitate EIAST’s access to a database of distinguished students and graduates in the engineering and technology specialties, that the institution needs. On the other hand, EIAST will contribute to creating job opportunities for graduates who are academically talented in scientific, technological and space-related projects, while providing scholarships for excelling students from engineering and technology schools.

Yousuf Al Shaibani, Director General of EIAST, asserted the importance of signing memoranda of understanding and agreements with educational institutions in the UAE to achieve the aim of qualifying students and developing their ambitions in space science and satellite and advanced technology manufacturing. Al Shaibani also laid stress on the need of maintaining coordination among governmental institutions, the private sector and the educational system for the provision of specialties that are needed by state institutions in order to serve various sectors, in line with the economic development strategy of the UAE.

Al Shaibani said: “We are confident that our cooperation with schools, institutes and universities will be fruitful and will eventually lead to a quantum leap on the educational level and an unprecedented development of ambitious projects that will enhance the status of the UAE and its leadership.”
