Elcome becomes reseller of Amazon Leo connectivity for maritime sector

Under this agreement, Elcome will offer Amazon Leo to fleets operating across all major oceans, supporting merchant shipping, offshore service vessels commercial fishing and yachting.

Maritime technology and satellite communications provider Elcome has signed an authorised reseller agreement with Amazon Leo, formerly known as Project Kuiper, to deliver satellite-based connectivity solutions to the global commercial maritime market.

Under the agreement, Elcome will offer Amazon Leo services to fleets operating across all major oceans, serving merchant vessels, offshore service ships, commercial fishing fleets and the yachting sector. The partnership builds on Elcome’s existing connectivity footprint, which spans more than 5,000 vessels worldwide, and adds Amazon Leo Pro and Leo Ultra terminals to its portfolio. This will provide maritime operators with an independent low Earth orbit connectivity option, enhancing network diversity, availability and resilience at sea.

By integrating Amazon Leo into its maritime offerings, Elcome aims to improve application performance and support the growing digital demands of modern fleets. The additional LEO pathway is expected to enable more reliable onboard operations and faster, more efficient data exchange between vessels and shore-based systems, accelerating the adoption of advanced digital workflows.

Amazon Leo is developing a large-scale low Earth orbit satellite constellation designed to deliver lower latency and higher capacity than traditional geostationary satellite systems. With thousands of satellites planned, the network is intended to support real-time applications, telemetry, remote operations and hybrid connectivity architectures suited to demanding maritime environments.

Commenting on the agreement, Jimmy Grewal, Managing Director of Elcome, said: “This agreement advances our mission to deliver global, scalable, and future-ready connectivity to the maritime industry. Amazon Leo technology will help transform how vessels communicate, operate, and integrate with their shoreside networks.”

Trevor Vieweg, Head of Global Business, Amazon Leo, added: “Through this agreement with Amazon Leo, Elcome will provide the connectivity  that modern maritime operations demand. Customers on the open seas will have the ability to power critical technology, using our antennas designed to operate seamlessly in challenging maritime environments.”

Maritime customers will also benefit from Elcome’s global engineering network, round-the-clock support capabilities, and extensive experience in deploying satellite communication systems for fleets of varying sizes worldwide.
