Eutelsat and Azam Media Ltd have renewed and expanded their long-standing collaboration through a multi-year, multi-transponder agreement at the key 7° East video neighbourhood, an orbital position for sub-Saharan Africa. The new deal will allow Azam Media to broaden its Direct-to-Home pay-TV offering in East Africa, adding more regional and international channels to one of the region’s most highly viewed satellite hotspots.

Positioned at 7° East, the satellite neighbourhood serves as a major hub for English-speaking audiences across sub-Saharan Africa, known for its coverage and strong video distribution capabilities. The partnership builds on a relationship that has helped Azam Media establish a significant DTH footprint across the region, where the platform currently delivers more than 130 channels.

By extending its collaboration with Eutelsat, Azam Media aims to enhance service quality for millions of households, including those in remote or underserved areas, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted access to television entertainment and information.

Jacob Joseph, CEO of AzamTV, said: “The addition of two new transponders to our current capacity on Eutelsat 7C is a testament to our commitment in providing a superior viewing experience to our customers.”

Aymeric Genty, President of Eutelsat’s Video Business Unit, added: “We are delighted to be deepening our partnership with Azam Media. Our 7° East neighbourhood continues to be the go-to choice for video distribution in Eastern Africa, and we’re excited to help Azam Media scale their platform to meet increasing viewer demand. This partnership underscores the critical role of satellite in enabling inclusive access to information and entertainment, especially in areas where terrestrial infrastructure is limited. With this expansion, Azam Media is set to offer a broader range of content to a diverse and growing audience.”
