Hiltron to showcase HSACU SNG antenna controller at IBC 2012

Exhibited in prototype at IBC2011 and now in full production, the Hiltron HSACU satellite newsgathering controller reportedly incorporates fully-automated satellite auto-acquisition

Hiltron GmbH, a distributor, integrator and manufacturer in the domain of satellite communication and related fields, will promote its full range of products and services on stand 4.B89 at IBC2012, Amsterdam, 7-11 September. This will include the production version of the HSACU satellite newsgathering antenna controller.

Exhibited in prototype at IBC2011 and now in full production, the Hiltron HSACU satellite newsgathering controller reportedly incorporates fully-automated satellite auto-acquisition. It is compatible, the company claims, with all leading motorised satellite newsgathering antennas. The HSACU is reportedly designed for integration into SNG trucks or for refurbishment of existing SNG antenna control systems. Housed in a compact rack-mountable chassis, it provides, according to a company spokesman, easy and efficient control of three-axis motorised antennas up to 2.4 metres in diameter. Azimuth, elevation and polarisation control are performed entirely in software, as per the official release.

The Hiltron HSACU can reportedly be fully controlled locally or from a remote IP browser. Local control is achieved, the company claims, via front-panel pushbuttons and a colour touch-panel graphic display. In IP remote control mode, the entire system can be operated from wherever is convenient to the SNG workflow. Fully automated acquisition of accessible satellites can reportedly be achieved within less than two minutes. An internal DVB-S/S2 tuner is provided for satellite verification. Heading determination is performed using a GPS and/or a fluxgate compass. The HSACU includes dual-axis compensation of truck inclination. It is reportedly compatible with resolvers, potentiometers, inclinometers and direct-current drive-motors.

Hiltron will be represented at IBC2012 by Dr Michael Schiestl (managing director), Reinhold Wagner, (sales director), Stefan Fuchs (project director), and Susanne Reichmann (sales assistant).
