Maxar Intelligence has announced the signing of three new multi-year strategic contracts worth a combined $204.7m, aimed at advancing sovereign defence, intelligence capabilities and space innovation across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. These agreements mark a significant expansion of Maxar’s longstanding presence in MEA, where it has maintained leadership for more than two decades.

The contracts are centred around Maxar’s Direct Access Programme (DAP), which grants regional customers direct control over Maxar’s advanced satellite constellation and geospatial intelligence tools. This includes access to very high-resolution satellite imagery, 3D terrain data, and near real-time analytics that enhance persistent monitoring and situational awareness.

Through this access, MEA countries will be able to build and upgrade sophisticated space-based C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) systems. These systems are critical for enabling multi-domain operations, surveillance, and complex mission planning. One of the standout features of the agreement is the integration of AI-powered technologies such as Maxar’s Sentry, a predictive intelligence solution capable of detecting and analysing mission-relevant patterns across multiple locations simultaneously.

Maxar’s Direct Access Programme provides international defense and intelligence partners with dedicated access to satellite imaging capabilities through localised ground stations, offering guaranteed delivery speeds. Customers can task satellites up to 15 minutes before an imaging operation and receive real-time data, giving them a tactical edge in fast-evolving situations.

Anders Linder, General Manager, International Government at Maxar, said: “The ongoing digitalisation of modern defense and security operations has driven a big growth in international demand for sovereign geospatial intelligence capabilities, particularly for near real-time situational awareness over key areas of interest. The MEA region has long been on the forefront of investing in technological innovation, and our expanded partnerships reflect the strategic importance of sovereign space-based capabilities. These deals underscore Maxar’s deep commitment to supporting our international customers’ needs to gain real-time decision advantage for the most demanding missions.”
