OurTV launches DTH service on NigComSat 1R

OurTV is a hybrid platform that offers free-to-view channels with no monthly subscription apart from a one-time payment for the decoder.

OurTV, a direct-to-home (DTH) TV broadcast satellite service has launched its service on NigComSat 1R.

The partners unveiled the new service in Abuja to begin a nationwide sale of OurTV decoders.

With a one-time payment for set-top boxes, OurTV requires no monthly subscription, has PVR and IP capability to watch YouTube and other over-the-top (OTT) services. 

OurTV is a division of Trefoil Networks Limited licensed by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to provide a mix of services including ICT, broadcast, network and internet solutions.

Commenting on the development, Braide Sayaba, Head of TV, Trefoil Networks Limited, said: “We started our first transmission in 2015 but today, Trefoil Networks is flagging off sales of OurTV decoders nationwide. OurTV is the first and only H265 DTH Satellite TV in Africa with 18 exciting channels.”

Further, Adamu Idris, NigComSat General Manager of Corporate Affairs Directorate urged other potential clients to emulate OurTV and take advantage of the resources in NigComSat-1R satellite to achieve their ICT related goals and objectives.
