King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the ruler of Saudi Arabia, issued a decree 27 December to establish the Saudi Space Authority.
According to the decree, Prince Sultan Bin Salman, who previously helmed the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), has now been appointed chairman of the board of directors of the Space Authority. The authority shall have a board of directors appointed by a royal order.
The decree was passed as part of a major cabinet reshuffle in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Other significant appointments included the new Minister of Media Al-Shabanah, who established Khalijia channel and served as LBC Channels Network director. He is at present, chairman of Rotana TV Channels.
In other separate decrees, King Salman also announced other key appointments. Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal has replaced Turki Al-Sheikh as president of the General Sports Authority, while Turki Al-Sheikh has been appointed as chairman of the Entertainment Authority.
