In a significant stride toward advancing Saudi national capabilities in the space sector, the Saudi Space Agency has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Axiom Space. The MoU was inked during the official visit of the Saudi Digital Economy, Space, and Innovation delegation to the United States of America, according to the report by the Saudi Press Agency.
Led by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Agency, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawahah, the delegation included the CEO of the Saudi Space Agency, Dr Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, and several high-ranking officials from the agency.
The agreement outlines a collaborative framework wherein Axiom Space will extend multiple opportunities for Saudi student training, on-the-job staff training, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences in the realm of manned spaceflights.
Encompassing various aspects of developing national capabilities in the space sector and related fields, the MoU underscores the commitment of both parties to fostering educational and professional growth. Axiom Space will implement tailored educational and training programmes for Saudi students, aiming to enhance their expertise within the context of its operations.
Anticipated outcomes of this strategic collaboration include an enriched educational and professional landscape for Saudi students and employees, as well as strengthened cooperation and mutual benefits between the Saudi Space Agency and Axiom Space.
