Thuraya, the mobility solutions subsidiary of UAE satellite operator Yahsat has opened a new office in Singapore to mark the 15th anniversary of the brand’s entry into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market. The new office was unveiled in the presence of partners and customers, and was inaugurated by H.E. Jamal Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the UAE Ambassador to Singapore, in the presence of Herman Loh, Vice-President and Head of Regional Partnerships at Singapore Economic Development Board and key APAC partners.
Welcoming dignitaries and partners, Thuraya’s Chief Executive Officer, Sulaiman Al Ali said: “The UAE serves as a corridor between the West and the East. Both Yahsat and Thuraya are national champions driving the growth and diversification of our nation’s space economy. We are now globalising our successes and the many years of innovation in the satellite industry. Thuraya’s new office in Singapore will be a meeting point of ideas and cross-cultural exchange, spurring socio-economic development across the Asia-Pacific belt. This is a key market across all our business sectors, including Maritime, Government, Energy, NGO and Enterprise.”
Thuraya’s products and services are highly popular in the APAC market, with its latest maritime solution, the MSUA award-winning Thuraya MarineStar, making sustainable fishing affordable in the region. The brand’s 15th anniversary celebrations included a traditional lion dance performance – in deference to Singapore’s culture. This is said to bring blessings of health, prosperity and happiness to all present.
