Top teleports and executives recognised by World Teleport Association

At the 2012 Teleport Awards for Excellence held during Satellite 2012 in Washington DC, in a field of over 1000 global teleports, NewSat was declared a finalist in the Independent Teleport of the Year category, along with Jordan Media City (Jordan).

Jordan Media City (Jordan) was awarded the Independent Teleport Operator of the Year. Jordan Media City is a free zone broadcast facility based in Jordan. With 25 transponders on a range of satellites including ArabSat, NileSat, Yahsat, Hot Bird and AsiaSat 1A, JMC has, according to a World Teleport Association (WTA) release, established itself as a leader in providing DTH TV and radio services, standard definition in MPEG 2 and 4 as well as high definition in MPEG 4.

Teleport executive of the year

Bill Tillson, president and COO of Encompass Digital Media (USA) was recognised as the Teleport Executive of the Year. As per the WTA release, Encompass Digital Media is the product of a series of acquisitions and strategic alignments by Tillson and Encompass CEO Simon Bax. Under his leadership, the release added, the company has also expanded its horizons beyond sports, media and entertainment by launching a government solutions unit.
