ULA CEO Tory Bruno steps down after 12 Years

Bruno assumed leadership of ULA in 2014, having previously served as vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Strategic and Missile Defense Systems.

Tory Bruno has resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer of United Launch Alliance (ULA) after nearly 12 years in the role, stepping down to pursue a new professional opportunity.

In a joint statement, ULA Lockheed Martin Board Chair Robert Lightfoot and ULA Boeing Board Chair Kay Sears expressed appreciation for Bruno’s long-standing leadership, thanking him for his service to both the company and the country during a transformative period for ULA.

Following his departure, John Elbon has been appointed Interim CEO with immediate effect. The board said it has full confidence in Elbon’s ability to maintain and build on ULA’s current momentum while the search for a permanent CEO is underway.

Elbon will work alongside newly appointed Chief Operating Officer Mark Peller, with the leadership team bringing extensive aerospace and launch experience to the company. The board highlighted that their combined expertise will be particularly important as ULA moves forward with key upcoming milestones for its Vulcan launch programme.
