Viasat has announced a major upgrade to its JetXP business aviation in-flight broadband service, delivering five times more capacity across the Eastern United States, with a phased nationwide rollout planned in the coming months. The enhancement benefits all business aviation customers using Honeywell JetWave or Gogo Plane Simple Ka-band terminals, enabling a smoother experience for data-intensive applications such as HD video conferencing, content streaming and generative AI across multiple devices simultaneously. JetWave users can further optimise performance with the terminal’s latest software version.
The upgrade has already garnered positive feedback from travellers on busy eastern US routes. A Large Cabin Gulfstream operator noted that Wi-Fi performance has been “truly outstanding,” praising the seamless software upgrade and enhanced connectivity on multiple flight legs.
The improvements stem from Viasat’s business aviation enhancement programme, which includes uncapped speeds, increased network prioritisation, and optimised satellite asset management. “JetXP already delivers our best-ever in-flight broadband experience for business aviation, and this capacity increase addresses the specific needs of our US customers,” said Kai Tang, Head of Business Aviation at Viasat.
Launched less than a year ago, JetXP unifies Viasat Ka and Jet ConneX services under one brand. Designed in consultation with customers and partners, it focuses on the overall connectivity experience rather than speed alone, offering consistent, reliable performance supported by 24/7 customer service through trusted partners including Collins Aerospace, Gogo and Honeywell.
