Viasat has introduced its Business Choice internet service plans, presenting small-to-medium businesses across the country with access to high-speed and reliable connectivity. This offering is especially crucial for businesses in hard-to-reach locations where terrestrial-based internet is unavailable. The introduction of Viasat’s new business-grade plans aims to provide quality, high-speed internet service, enabling business owners, including those in rural America, to leverage the latest digital technology and enhance their competitive positioning. The Business Choice plans offer faster speeds compared to previous offerings, with download speeds reaching up to 100 Mbps coast-to-coast and up to 150 Mbps in select areas. These internet service plans are available for businesses today.
In the United States, there are approximately 32m small businesses, with some rural areas still lacking access to broadband, hindering operations for businesses in those regions. A Google-sponsored survey of small businesses with fewer than 250 employees revealed that 8% lack adequate access to broadband. Despite these challenges, small businesses are eager to embrace connectivity, showing increased optimism about the economy and their overall business health, according to the Small Business Index Q3 2023. The survey indicates that one-third of small businesses view the US economy as in good health, a nine-percentage point increase from the previous quarter.
Viasat’s new Business Choice service plans aim to address these connectivity challenges by providing critical broadband speeds to facilitate efficient business operations. This includes supporting unified communications like VoIP and video conferencing, enabling businesses to stay connected with clients and staff, reach a global customer base, and access essential business tools. The plans also offer a backup service plan to ensure business continuity during adverse weather events and network outages.
All Viasat Business Choice plans include built-in Wi-Fi, professional installation, and business-class support with live agents. The plans feature Unlimited Office Hours, allowing businesses to use popular business apps without using data. Viasat’s network is optimised for third-party VoIP platforms to support voice service. Additional Business Choice add-ons include Viasat Voice for Business, Data Boost for purchasing additional high-speed data, and a Static IP address for businesses hosting their websites, using security cameras, or requiring remote access.
Steven Mesnick, General Manager of US broadband at Viasat, commented: “We’ve been working closely with our business customers to understand their specific needs and have created new business-grade internet service plans to meet those needs. The new Business Choice plans offer the speed and data necessary to create new opportunities for small-to-medium businesses to compete and succeed.”
Viasat, as a participant in the FCC’s Connect America Fund Phase II Auction Programme (CAF II), also provides discounted business internet service plans to qualifying service areas.
