ViewSat chooses IS20 to enhance Africa offering

Partnership with IntelSat is in line with broadcaster's growth aims for 2013

ViewSat, a global broadcasting company for TV and radio channels, has chosen the IntelSat 20 satellite (IS20) to support growth in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since 2006, when ViewSat only served Sub-Saharan Africa, it has grown to become a global satellite provider, extending its reach to additional areas including the Middle East, Europe and North America.

“We have chosen to extend our partnership with IntelSat in response to our growth aims in 2013,” says Awaes Jaswal, CEO at ViewSat.

“Catering to the Sub-Saharan region is where we started so we are happy to focus here to expand our space offering, as well as regions served. We hope to reach additional viewers with this agreement and further boost our ongoing growth in the market.”

With uplink, downlink and turnaround facilities in both Europe and Africa, ViewSat offers a growing number of channels and reliable and efficient DTH services. ViewSat currently broadcasts both religious and general entertainment channels.

“IS20 allows us the enhanced capacity to offer our clients, regardless of message, size or expertise, the opportunity to broadcast to this busy region and reach millions of homes across Sub-Saharan Africa,” says Jaswal.
