The visit, which involved a tour of Yahsat’s ground station facilities in Abu Dhabi, its control centre and military equipment supported by Yahsat, provided an opportunity, according to the company spokesman, for Yahsat to demonstrate the satellite-based services it provides to the UAE’s military. Yahsat’s YahSecure service is reportedly the only product available in the region that can offer secured satellite services on the high frequency Ka-band, for mission-critical and confidential government and military wideband communications.
Commenting on this visit, Jassem Mohamed Al Zaabi, said: “The visit allowed us to underline our commitment to the UAE Armed Forces, our first client, and provided us with an opportunity to showcase the achievements of Yahsat’s UAE’s military satellite capabilities provided through YahSecure, to reinforce our relationship with the armed forces.”
In April 2011, Yahsat launched its first satellite, Y1A and in April 2012 Yahsat launched its second satellite, Y1B. Y1B provides services that compliment Y1A and will additionally host the soon-to-be launched YahClick service which will reportedly offer affordable, uninterrupted and high-speed satellite broadband internet for under-served communities across the region.
