Three mobile operators in Egypt — Vodafone, Etisalat Misr, and WE — will receive new frequencies this year.
According to official reports, the three companies had signed licences to obtain new frequencies, estimated at about 80 MHz with TDD technology, valued at USD 1.170bn.
An Egyptian news report stated that the operators will receive half of the frequencies within the first three months, while the rest will be apportioned later within the year.
The report added that Vodafone Egypt won a package of frequencies of 40 MHz, while WE and Etisalat Misr both received a 20MHz band.
