YahLive, the high definition (HD) television satellite platform for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, was presented with the coveted ‘Outstanding HDTV Achiever’ award at the ASBU BroadcastPro Summit & Awards event held at Dubai’s Habtoor Grand Beach Resort and Spa on Nov. 12.
Commenting on the award, Mohamed Youssif, CEO of YahLive, said: “We, along with SES, are honoured to be recognised as the region’s leading HDTV pioneers with the ‘Outstanding HDTV Achiever’ award. This award speaks to the success of this unique partnership, which has produced the region’s only exclusively HD hot spot.”
In less than one year since YahLive launched its operations, it has reportedly created an exclusive HD bouquet of more than 40 quality channels including Saudi TV, Dubai Media Incorporated, Abu Dhabi Media, Cartoon Network Arabia, GEM, MBC and channels from Europe that appeal to a diverse audience. By year-end 2012, YahLive’s bouquet will increase to 50 channels. YahLive is a joint venture company with Yahsat, the United Arab Emirates-based satellite communications company and the global satellite operator SES. The UAE-based direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television service provider allows end-users in the Middle East, North Africa and South West Asia to deploy a small 45-60cm easy-to-install dish to receive the latest movies, programmes and live events in HD.
The ASBU BroadcastPro Middle East Awards are designed to reward excellence among individuals and end-user companies who have deployed winning or innovative technologies or made significant contributions to the local broadcast industry. The Dubai event gathered more than 300 high-profile decision makers and stakeholders of the regional and international broadcast community.
