Nigcomsat Limited has announced a partnership with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) to provide uplink services via the Nigcomsat satellite network. This strategic collaboration aims to enhance the quality and reach of broadcasting services for BON members across Nigeria over the next three months.
This initiative, which aligns with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy’s mandate under the supervision of Minister Dr Bosun Tijani, will see Nigcomsat leverage its advanced satellite technology to support BON and its member organisations. The partnership will enable BON to access Nigcomsat’s reliable and high-performance uplink services, ensuring broadcast signal quality and consistency for viewers nationwide.
Speaking about the collaboration, Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director and CEO of Nigcomsat, said: “Nigcomsat is committed to driving digital transformation and enhancing connectivity across Nigeria. The collaboration will begin immediately, with Nigcomsat’s technical team working closely with BON to integrate their systems and ensure a seamless transition. This partnership highlights Nigcomsat’s dedication to supporting the growth and development of Nigeria’s media and communications sectors, ultimately empowering citizens with access to reliable and informative content.
Dr Yemisi Bamgbose, Executive Secretary of BON, expressed gratitude to Nigcomsat Ltd and Egerton-Idehen for their significant support and special consideration for BON members. The agreement includes the allocation of two transponders at discounted rates and a commitment to support the broadcasting industry.
Dr Bamgbose also confirmed that BON members have been promptly informed of this development and are expected to benefit from this collaboration, which is poised to add significant value to the broadcasting industry in the country.
