C-COM Satellite Systems Inc., a provider of mobile auto-deploying satellite antenna systems, has announced that it has received type approval for its iNetVu Ka-75V antenna system from ViaSat Inc., a provider of satellite and other digital communication systems and services.
The iNetVuKa-75V mobile antenna system is now officially approved to operate on ViaSat’s Exede (SM) Ka-band high-capacity satellite service covering the United States.
“C-COM has been working very closely with ViaSat over the last year to ensure full compatibility with the Exede service and to develop required communication interface between the ViaSat Broadband Modem and our iNetVuKa-75cm autopointing antenna,” said Bilal Awada, CTO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.
“The iNetVu systems have been in Beta testing with ViaSat for more than six months and have met all required mechanical, optical, and RF performance requirements with great level of pointing accuracy and repeatability,” Awada continued.
“The results of these tests and the corresponding official ViaSat approval demonstrate the high level of accuracy and overall system quality that the iNetVu autopointing systems deliver,” said Leslie Klein, CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.
A number of iNetVuKa-75V mobile antenna systems have already been delivered to ViaSat. Full production rollout with immediate availability is expected in August 2012.
“The type approval of the iNetVuKa-75V represents a major milestone,” said Bill Connelly, general manager, ViaSat Tactical Satcom Networks. “Customers now have an option for seamless auto-point acquisition of the Exede network via the highest capacity satellite in the world.”
