NCC issues landing permits to 13 additional space stations

Earlier in January, the NCC issued landing permits to 55 space stations to provide coverage over Nigeria’s territory.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued new landing permits to 13 additional space stations to provide satellite services within the country’s territory, according to Space in Africa.

The updated official list of authorised space stations in Nigeria was released on August 31 by the NCC and now features 68 licensees including Eutelsat and Iridium.

Earlier in January, the NCC issued landing permits to 55 space stations to provide coverage over Nigeria’s territory.

The NCC said the move would enable it to regulate satellite and space services and ensure the operators contribute significantly to broadband penetration.

The commission said it engaged in the regularisation of the activities of all satellite operators including space station operators and earth station operators.
