Thai Aerospace partners with Rivada for network expansion

Rivada’s OuterNET will solve essential connectivity and networking challenges and open up new opportunities for business communications globally.

Thai Aerospace Industries (TAI), a prominent aerospace and aviation services company headquartered in Bangkok, has entered into a strategic partnership with Rivada Space Networks to introduce highly reliable and secure connectivity services to the commercial, military, and general aviation sectors in Thailand and beyond.

Rivada’s global low-latency point-to-point network, the OuterNET, features 600 low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. This next-generation constellation combines inter-satellite laser links with advanced onboard processing, creating an optical mesh network in space. The “orbital network” ensures that data stays in space from origin to destination, resulting in an ultra-secure satellite network with pole-to-pole coverage. The OuterNET offers end-to-end latencies much lower than terrestrial fiber over similar long distances and provides a layer of defence for securely sharing data between widely distributed sites.

For TAI’s Government and Defense divisions, Rivada’s OuterNET will enhance connectivity across airfields, offering an easy-to-deploy network with higher bandwidth and improved security for resilient and reliable communication services. TAI, an independent provider of aviation services in Southeast Asia, will utilise OuterNET to gain better control and management of its aviation servicing centre, addressing the increasing pressure on commercial and military operators to reduce maintenance, repair, and overhaul costs without compromising safety.

TAI is also exploring expansion into the enterprise sector, leveraging its strong relationships with telecommunication companies in Thailand. Rivada’s OuterNET will enable TAI to offer enterprise-grade connectivity globally.

Commenting on the deal, Chris Atswalongkorn, CEO of TAI, said: “We are very excited to leverage Rivada’s next-generation satellite connectivity to expand our services across the defence, aviation and enterprise sectors. The OuterNET is a fully interconnected orbital network which effectively serves as a private network in space, capable of routing traffic at gigabit speeds from one satellite to another with no need for a gateway on Earth. We see this as the key infrastructure for the development of the telecom sector in Thailand and beyond.”

Declan Ganley, CEO, Rivada Space Networks, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Thai Aerospace Industries to expand their reach and services. As a completely new type of LEO constellation, the OuterNET allows satellites to go beyond their traditional role of ‘gap-filler’ and our fully inter-connected space network, independent of terrestrial infrastructure, is rapidly becoming the network of choice for secure, resilient communications and network expansion.”

The OuterNET is set to address essential connectivity and networking challenges, providing new opportunities for business communications globally. The first satellite launch is scheduled for 2025, with global service commencement in 2026.
