The UAE will launch its MBZ SAT imaging satellite on a Falcon 9 rideshare mission in 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.
The image shows the wildfires burning through Northern and Central California in the US.
At present, mosaic images of Abu Dhabi and Dubai have been released while mosaic images of all other Emirates will be released in due course.
The maze of empty streets visible in the picture is a result of the lockdown as authorities tried to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The image was captured from space by KhalifaSat which is one of the remote-sensing observation satellites designed and built in the UAE.
KhalifaSat has five patents and seven space innovations making it the most advanced satellite of its category in the world.
