Anuvu sells MEG connectivity division to FMC GlobalSat

Anuvu’s maritime, energy, and government connectivity business was originally established as MTN Satellite Communications.

Anuvu, a provider of high-speed connectivity and entertainment solutions for demanding worldwide mobility markets, has announced the successful completion of the sale of its Maritime, Energy, and Government connectivity business operations to FMC GlobalSat.

Effective April 30, 2024, the transaction encompasses all customers, employees, and key operations, signifying a strategic move for both entities to reinforce their core offerings. The acquisition aligns with FMC’s vision of achieving network convergence between satellite and terrestrial networks, scaling their platform to deliver high-performing multi-orbit, multi-network solutions globally. Meanwhile, Anuvu will focus its resources on driving innovation and growth in inflight connectivity, as well as inflight and maritime entertainment markets.

Speaking about the deal, Joshua Marks, CEO at Anuvu, said: “We are pleased to announce the completion of the sale of our Maritime, Energy and Government business operations to FMC GlobalSat. With their vision and resources, FMC is well positioned to drive value for customers and accelerate growth within the industry.”

The transaction excludes Anuvu’s Maritime Entertainment business, renowned as the leader of onboard entertainment and live events for cruise lines worldwide. Anuvu remains committed to delivering high-quality entertainment experiences to passengers aboard cruise ships.

Furthermore, Anuvu’s teleport infrastructure will remain under its purview, supporting robust demand for global inflight connectivity services. Looking ahead, Anuvu is poised to operate a hybrid GEO and LEO network, starting with the Anuvu Constellation, to provide airlines with the capacity they need now and in the future.

Marks added: “This strategic decision aligns with our commitment to deliver innovation that moves our customers forward. By divesting these assets, Anuvu will streamline its operations and focus its efforts on bolstering innovation and service excellence to our clients. We remain focused on delivering exceptional entertainment experiences to our aviation and maritime clients while advancing our global inflight connectivity business. We will continue to keep passengers connected to the things they love through high-speed connectivity that enables entertainment, remote work and collaboration as well as content that surprises and delights them through continually meeting their growing interests.”

Both Anuvu and FMC GlobalSat are dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition and assure customers and partners of their commitment to delivering exceptional service and value for their guests and operations.
