Saudi Space Agency has signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish a collaborative relationship in the realm of space situational awareness technologies with NorthStar. Through this agreement, both entities aim to bolster their collaboration in evaluating and exploring future opportunities, while also exchanging expertise and knowledge in the field of space situational awareness.
The memorandum was officially signed by Dr Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, CEO of Saudi Space Agency, and Stewart Bain, CEO of NorthStar, on the sidelines of the Space Debris Conference held in Riyadh. Under this agreement, both parties will strive to support the growth of the space industry in the Kingdom, enhance research and development capabilities, and explore opportunities to establish a specialized centre of excellence dedicated to space situational awareness.
Additionally, the collaboration will focus on managing space traffic, with a particular emphasis on research and exploration in space sustainability, the space environment, and various sensing technologies including optical, radar, and radio frequency devices. Moreover, the partners will delve into advanced data analytics capabilities.
The Saudi Space Agency’s ongoing efforts to deepen partnerships with stakeholders in the space sector, both regionally and globally, underscore its unwavering commitment to enhancing cooperation for the advancement of space endeavours.
